If you’re a musician aged 13-25 and live or learn in Hammersmith & Fulham, we want you to apply to be one of our pop-up performers as part of the Youth Arts Festival.
We are looking for:
- Soloists or small groups of musicians who will perform 20 minute pop-up slots in public spaces (e.g. shopping centres, local businesses, arts venues) during the Youth Arts Festival
Pop-up performances will showcase the talent of young musicians in Hammersmith and Fulham, giving you an opportunity to share your work with a public audience and develop your live performance skills. The performances will take place at various times and locations from 19-31 October 2026, celebrating the Youth Arts Festival and providing local people the chance to experience live music all over the borough.
Musicians selected to perform in a pop-up slot will receive:
- £50* per 20 minute performance slot
- A guaranteed place on at least one music masterclass at the Youth Arts Festival, where you will receive mentoring from industry experts
*For those 18+ with the right to work in the UK, you will receive this via invoice, for anyone else you will receive £50 worth of Sainsburys vouchers.
The deadline to apply is midday on Friday 9th October. All you will need to do is submit an example of your musical work (an audio recording or a video of a recent performance) and answer a few questions about your experience level and eligibility. Want to know more? See below for full details
The type of musicians we’re looking for:
- You must be a confident musician who has some previous performing experience (including as a soloist or as part of bigger groups or school performances)
- You should have your own instrument and be able to transport it yourself to a performance location in Hammersmith & Fulham
- Your performance should be acoustic or require only minimal amplification (e.g. a single handheld microphone and a personal speaker or amp) You do not need to have access to these items yourself
- Music of all genres is welcome, however lyrics must not contain any expletives/swear words as performances will take place in public places
- Original music and covers are both eligible
- Singers/vocalists performing with backing tracks are welcome to apply. The YPBoC can purchase legitimate backing tracks on your behalf where required
The deadline to apply for this opportunity is midday on Friday 9th October. Please send an email to contact@ypboc.org with the subject line ‘YPBoC Pop Up Performances’, and include the following information/attachments:
- Between 3-5 minutes of examples of your music performance. This does not have to be a piece you will perform but should capture your style as a musician. It can be one full song or up to three short extracts of performances. You can provide these examples as a youtube/soundcloud/spotify link or similar, or as an MP3/MP4 email attachment. If you need to use google drive or dropbox you must make sure that the link has a public view. We will not accept WeTransfer or similar download links.
- Please also provide:
- Your name
- The first half of your Hammersmith & Fulham postcode (this should be where you live or learn in the Borough)
- Your date of birth
- A brief summary (no more than 100 words) of what pieces you might perform in a 20 minute slot if given the opportunity
- Any dates/time you are not available from Monday 19 – Saturday 31 October 2026
- If you are aged 13-17 at the time you are submitting, you must provide the name & email address/phone number of a parent/carer aged 18 or over (we will contact this person as well as you to notify applicants of the results). Please indicate this adult’s relationship to you in your email
We’re looking forward to listening to your work!
