Mary Martins is an award-winning British-Nigerian animator and documentary filmmaker from London. She produces collage-style, mixed-media, and stop-motion animated films that combine handcrafted techniques with ink, paints, oil pastels, and charcoal. She often animates on top of photographs and videos, using both traditional and digital animation styles. Her ideas focus on socially engaged themes, exploring and representing the lived experiences and stories of local communities and marginalised groups. She uses animation in more experimental ways to capture the fluidity of drawings and unexpected movement.
